420 Camp

Beginner sailors seeking adventure!

1-Week Sessions: Starting June 10, 2024
We will not be offering Learn to Sail classes the week of July 1-5.

Schedule: 9am – noon OR 1 – 4pm Monday through Friday

Program Cost: $225 per student

Who should take this course?
Beginner/intermediate sailors, ages 11-17, who have completed 5th-11th grades.

What if my child has some sailing experience?
Instructors are conscious of varying levels of experience but none is required. Staff will arrange classes so as to accommodate all levels of learning. If you’ve graduated from this class and feel confident in your sailing skills, you may want to consider our 420 Advanced Camp for even more fun!

What will my child learn?
On a typical day, our US Sailing Certified instructors will introduce new material in a classroom setting before heading out to spend the majority of the session on the water. While on the water, sailors will receive group and one-on-one coaching to improve skills and a sense of confidence on the water. The instructors will introduce adventure sails in addition to shorter trips. STEM lessons, sailing games, and dunes will take place if weather concerns keep us from on-water activities.

*If you sign your child up for morning AND afternoon sessions the same week (as in the previous format of 420 Camp), please send them with their lunch! We will have staff supervising lunchtime games. This group of kids will be sailing together all day and progressing their sailing skills over a whole day, instead of half day.

What do we need to bring?
Students must bring their own snacks as well as a lifejacket, change of clothes, swimsuit, water shoes, sunscreen, hat, sunglasses and towel. We find it best to wear a swimsuit under shorts/t-shirt each day.

What comes next?
We recommend 2 or more one-week camps for those who really want to improve their sailing skills. Graduates from this class do well in our 420 Advanced and are eligible to sign-up for our fall/spring High School programs.
